What We Do

A Parish Council or local council is a body corporate with perpetual succession and a name in this case ‘Wouldham Parish Council’. We have a Chairman, Vice Chairman and 6 Councillors all with individual roles and responsibilities.

Wouldham Parish Council is funded almost entirely from the precept or charges to the householders within the parish boundary. The precept is collected by Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council on behalf of the Parish as part of the Council Tax. The Parish Council meets monthly on the first tuesday of every month and all meetings are open to the public.

The Aim of the Parish

‘To develop and sustain a sense of community within the parish of Wouldham by addressing environmental, economic and social issues and delivering quality services to our Parishioners’.

As the first level of local democracy the Parish is responsible to Parishioners for a variety of services including street lighting (where the county council has not provided a service) , the management of public open spaces, working in partnership with the County on public rights of way etc and most importantly as a contact point for district, county and many other public services.
